Splash fountain

Once again, me + dinner with my parents = a bunch of bird photos. So I'll just get right to it.

A White-breasted Nuthatch doing its best impression of a dart:

A Titmouse doing its best impression of a Nuthatch doing its best impression of a dart:

Almost feels like a setup for a joke, doesn't it? A Hairy Woodpecker, a Titmouse, and a Chickadee fly onto the feeders...:

Meanwhile, the strangest thing happened this evening: there was a ton of bird traffic on the water fountain as I stood at the back door taking photos. This was unusual because usually they wait until I've put my camera away before visiting the fountain in droves—I swear, sometimes it seems like there's this vast avian conspiracy that was organized with the sole purpose of tormenting me. Started by the Kingfisher, of course.

If that is the case, then I suppose all I can do is appreciate it when they take pity on me once in a while:

Throwing in a Titmouse just to switch things up a little:

And back to the Chickadees. I'm pretty sure these two decided not to bathe at the same time just to keep me honest. Instead, they took turns—as soon as the one bird stopped splashing, the other would start. Rinse, repeat:

No, the rock did not suddenly sprout wings—that's a second Chickadee landing beside it:

Working on their communication skills:

Not the best shot in the world, but I kinda liked it:

A very lucky shot of a Chickadee just after it stuck its head in the water, but before it started splashing around:

Up periscope:

Speaking of good fortune, I even had a chipmunk stop by for a drink in between bird visits:

I really liked how well the reflection came out in this shot:

And, of course, a couple of Kaylee shots to bring the post to a close:
