Another epic Saturday posting part 2

If you haven't yet seen the first part of today's posting, you can get there by clicking here.

Next to the hummingbirds, the Goldfinches are probably the most active bird around right now, at least when it comes to feeder visits. I know at one point there were at least a dozen gathered on the feeders hanging from the double hook, and more up at the edge of the woods on the thistle feeder as well.

This female, however, was kind enough to come in and drink from the fountain while I was sitting very close by; in the first shot you can even see a drop of water clinging to her neck:

A shot of some of the Goldfinch traffic on the feeders:

This bumblebee had a load of pollen on each of its back legs:

A Chickadee getting a drink:

An unbelievably lucky catch—in fact, my exclamation upon first seeing it may or may not have involved profanity:

Finally, I've got a bunch of Kaylee shots to share this time around. As you can see, she did her best to help out Dad and Greg as they husked the corn:

"I'm sorry—did you want this?"

In this one, you can see that she's also got a piece of carrot in her mouth in addition to the corn husk:

"Aw, my brother wants to love me up..."

"GASP! WHAT TREACHERY IS THIS?!"

"That's right: it's MY corn husk!"

Greg and Kaylee did patch things up, especially after he helped her practice for her ballet audition:

Keeping her eyes on the prize:

Success at last:

After all of that, can you really blame her for being tired?

  1. I especially like the bee and the first very bright goldfinch, but they're all nice.

  3. Hi Kris,

First of all, thank you for all the lovely comments you've been contributing over the last few months—I really appreciate your many kind words.

I use a Nikon D5000 that I purchased back in April. Most of the time I've got my 55-200mm lens on, as it's got good range distance-wise and I like the way close-up photos turn out. For things like the cars on Friday, I switch to my wider angle lens, which is an 18-55mm.

If you're interested, I'm happy to provide links to more detailed descriptions.

I'll have to look that up - you get breathtaking results with it.

I have an Olympus E-500 at home and an E-510 at work. Not much difference at all between them.

Just had to know what's in your hand! :)
